The inspiration for PK80 comes from the daybeds created by Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich in 1930. This reworking refines and essentializes the design to restore a modern character, perfected to the point of becoming a representative of design craftsmanship at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
The Kjærholm Collection is the result of an important legacy entrusted to Fritz Hansen by the administrators of Kjærholm two years after renowned designer passed away. The collection contains a selection of models developed from 1951 to 1980, and aims to keep the artist's flame alive, so that his creative genius remains for future generations.

Despite his short career as a furniture designer, Kjærholm’s craftsmanship and clear expression resulted in timeless designs with a global influence. Kjærholm became known for his functionalist steel, leather and glass furniture. He removed unnecessary ornamentation in favor of clarity and function.
