Upholstery in fabric
Originally called the Model 9, the Oda lounge chair, conceived around 1956 by Arnold Madsen, reinvents the armchair with a complex horseshoe construction, integrated headrest and wooden armrests. Initially misattributed to Nanna Ditzel, it was rightly attributed to Madsen in 2020. The lounge chair is complemented by the footstool from the same collection.
Established in 2023, Audo Copenhagen, born from MENU and by Lassen partnership, blends Danish design heritage with a global outlook. It embraces minimalism, featuring clean-lined furniture, earth tones and natural materials.
Design by Arnold Madsen
Arnold Madsen (1907-1989), born in North Jutland, began as a sailor before becoming a furniture upholsterer in Copenhagen. In 1941, he opened his workshop and co-founded Madsen & Schubell with Henry Schubell in 1945, producing furniture until 1965. Despite lacking formal design training, Madsen, an atypical figure in Danish modernism, crafted experimental furniture, showcasing his determination.
